Is there any AI in Writing Ninja?
Writing Ninja includes an optional AI feature, Neno®.
Pro-level memberships include access to Neno.ai, an optional AI feature that’s sprinkled throughout Writing Ninja’s software. Neno.ai is a powerful tool that will inspire creative ideas — but it doesn’t write your project for you! It simply presents you with little prompts, lists, and possibilities to spark ideas and help you see your story from a fresh angle.
Think of Neno as your personal writing assistant. He’s here to gently help you find your story and embrace the unique perspective that makes this project one only you can create.
Writing Ninja is built to help you discover, develop, and turbocharge your ideas. So all of our AI features are here to support your brainstorming when you want a little extra help.
And if AI isn’t your thing, no worries! Neno.ai is never the center of Writing Ninja. It’s just here to support you, not take over your story. All AI features are clearly marked, defaulted to “Off” and 100% optional. So you’re always in control and can still use Writing Ninja without using any AI.
Does Writing Ninja write stories for me?
Nope! It doesn’t write for you. It helps you discover your story.
Here at Writing Ninja, we’re firm believers that stories — stories written by humans, for humans — will always be in demand. We can write what no machine can: stories with heart and soul. (Yay, people! Boo, bots…)
Writing Ninja helps you brainstorm, explore, and develop your own story, helping you mine the best version of it out of your ideas. But it does not write it for you. (Besides, once you start using our Brainstorm Boards®, NinjaApps, and other interactive writers’ tools, you’ll discover such a great story, you’ll be chomping at the bit to write it yourself. 😉 )
That said… we’re also all for progress and a lil’ helpful assistance!
So while Writing Ninja doesn’t write your screenplay or novel for you, all Pro-level memberships include access to Neno.ai. Neno® is an optional AI feature sprinkled throughout the software to help inspire your creative ideas. It generates possibilities, sparks ideas, and can help you view your story from a fresh angle. (But it still doesn’t write your project for you! It just helps you find and embrace the unique perspective that makes this story one only you can tell.) But if Neno.ai isn’t for you, don’t worry; all AI features are clearly marked and optional, so you always stay in control of the decisions, direction, and final work.
Do I write my screenplay or novel inside Writing Ninja?
No (and that’s on purpose!).
There are already so many amazing writing platforms out there, and as writers, we all tend to have our favorites. So instead of reinventing the wheel, Writing Ninja focuses on something different: helping you discover the best version of your story before you write.
With Writing Ninja, you can explore characters, worlds, plot, theme, structure, and story possibilities before those choices get buried deep in your first draft and become much harder to untangle later.
So no, you do not write your screenplay or novel inside Writing Ninja. You develop your story in Writing Ninja, then write faster and with a lot more confidence in the software you already know and love.

Who created Writing Ninja?
A small dedicated team who loves screenwriting and technology
Writing Ninja was founded by Noi Sabal, a screenwriter whose background includes film, television, story development, and software. She started Writing Ninja because she wanted a creative, connected, and enjoyable way to discover stories before writing, so there could be fewer rewrites.
Over the years, we’ve grown to a small team of Ninjas, all of whom are excited to create and use this software themselves. (Sometimes, we get lost in “testing” because we love making up stories ourselves!)
We’re super excited to share our unique story-sparking software with you. Now, writers from all over the world can stop staring at the blank page and second-guessing every idea, and start exploring their story, making connections, and seeing it all come together in Writing Ninja. Now, we can all write faster and tell stronger, more engaging stories with Writing Ninja. (Yay!)
